Dermaplaning FAQs
How does it work?
Dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliation treatment that uses a sterile surgical scalpel to gently remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the surface of your skin. This process helps reveal smoother, brighter skin, unclogs pores, and allows skincare products to penetrate more effectively, leaving your complexion refreshed and glowing.
How long does the treatment take?
Anywhere from 30-45 minutes.
Who is Dermaplaning not suitable for?
Dermaplaning is not suitable for individuals with active acne, irritated or inflamed skin, rosacea, or other skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. It is also not recommended for those with open wounds or cuts on the face, as the treatment may irritate or worsen these conditions
I've heard your hair grows back thicker, is this true?
It’s a common misconception that hair grows back thicker after dermaplaning, but this is not true. The fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) removed during the treatment grows back at its natural rate and texture. Dermaplaning does not alter the growth cycle or thickness of the hair. However, if you have hormonal hair growth (such as from conditions like PCOS), it may grow back thicker, but this is unrelated to the treatment itself
How long does it last?
Results from dermaplaning typically last between 3 to 4 weeks, depending on your skin type and how quickly your hair grows back. For optimal results, it’s recommended to schedule a session every 4 weeks to maintain smooth, glowing skin.
Is this treatment good before my event?
"Dermaplaning is a fantastic treatment to consider before a big event, as it leaves your skin smooth, radiant, and makeup-ready, giving you a flawless complexion. However, it’s always wise to plan ahead and try the treatment a few days or even a week before the event, just in case of any unexpected reaction. This ensures you have enough time to address any sensitivity or irritation, allowing your skin to be at its best for the occasion.
Why do people say the hair can feel a little thicker as it grows back?
As the fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) grows back after dermaplaning, it might feel slightly thicker or coarser. This sensation happens because the hair has been cut straight across at the surface, rather than naturally tapering at the tip. This blunt edge can give the hair a thicker, more noticeable feel as it grows back, but the hair itself is not actually growing back thicker or darker—just perceived that way due to the way it was removed
